The Security Force detection zone is made up of a plurality of LED light sources/photodetector pairs which transmit harmless, invisible beams of infrared light that create a flat, sharply defined plane of protection, allowing the operator to work close to the machine without restricting motion or causing visual distraction. Intrusion into the light plane actuates a stop motion signal to the controlled machine. The high quality optical lens system creates this flat wall of protection by collimating the light sources to an angle of divergence of only 2º. Allowing the operator to freely work in close proximity to the point of operation increases productivity by eliminating wasted motion. Plus, productivity is further enhanced by the increased speed in which each operation is achieved through the elimination of processes associated with the other safeguarding means, i.e. door opening and closing, palm button depression, foot switch actuation, etc. Operators welcome this form of machine guarding due to their new found freedom plus their feeling of security, however there is another hidden safety benefit derived through the use of light curtains, which is ergonomic safety. Ergonomic problems associated with repetitive motion, such as constantly lifting gates, opening doors, actuating foot switches, etc. can sometimes be eliminated (consult your local regulations).
Technology
These unique, patented light curtain systems "-Security Force-" are virtually the first "Control Reliable" products of its kind. This is accomplished by the introduction of "intelligence" into the system whereby an integral network of communication paths between a "System Microcontroller" and an "Executive Microcontroller" create a unified monitor scheme of the system and of each other. This integrated self-monitoring scheme creates both active and passive self checks of the entire light curtain system, wherein all circuitry, all hardware, all relays and all sensing elements are verified for proper functioning while at the same time the light curtain system is performing its machine guarding function. This is accomplished via the tremendously high rates of speed in which the System Microcontroller and the Executive Microcontroller operate. Data can be transmitted, received, processed, exchanged and compared in such a short period of time that idle time is afforded to perform these series of integral self checks without compromise to the systems safety function.
Verifies for proper functioning while at the same time performing its machine guarding function.
